Staff VP Product Strategy & Business Insights Leader Responsible for leading the Beacon enterprise-wide strategic planning, product management and new product development functions. Reports to and collaborates with the Beacon CEO, market presidents, clinical leadership, operations leadership, and shared service function leaders to drive a unified vision, strategy and product roadmap for Beacon’s behavioral health business with a goal of achieving significant profitable growth.
Primary duties may include but are not limited to:
Serve as the voice of the market and be the expert on market insights, trends and competitive intelligence, maintain a comprehensive understanding of our competitors' products, appetite, and capabilities; provide insights into new and emerging needs in the industry.
Overall responsibility for sales strategy, sales operations/proposal department including sales reporting and analysis, lead generation, strategic account planning, training, pipeline management, forecast/ quota development and the administration of the sales commission plan.
Create short and long-term product-specific strategic plans and manage the product lifecycle portfolio.
Through matrix relationship, provide oversight and direction for marketing/marketing communication functions including marketing strategy/value proposition, lead generation, client collateral and go to market strategies.
Serve as the product subject matter expert and provide consultation and advice to external-facing account management and new business development sales teams.
Serve as the center of excellence for innovation and clinical thought leadership for the enterprise.
May represent the company on external committees or with applicable vendors as needed.
Frames and answers key design questions across products, markets, and segments to improve Beacon’s value proposition in the market.
Hires, trains, coaches and evaluates the performance of direct reports.

Requires a BA/BS; 10+ years of experience in product strategy methodology, design and use of market research to inform strategy, or any combination of education and experience providing an equivalent background. Fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership/executive level strategic planning, product management experience in the behavioral health/health insurance industry. Advanced degree MBA, MPH preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Strong knowledge and experience with complex Behavioral Health products.
Strong business acumen, financial and organizational knowledge.
Technical competency in using financial reporting tools.
Ability to influence and collaborate with senior level management team.
Ability to engage with and deliver value proposition to senior level contacts within account and/or prospect organizations.
Ability to negotiate complex and strategic contracts.
Adaptable and flexible to work environment including, but not limited to, handling multiple tasks concurrently, and easily adapting to new assignments, system, tools.
Produce clear, concise, accurate written communication, clearly conveying thoughts and ideas to peers, management, and customers.
Establish and maintain positive work relationships with peers, management, and customers displaying willingness to understand diverse points of view.
Learn and apply new initiatives to account plans and strategy.
Proven track record of sales success and sales team rigor.
