Lead Architect, Medicare Stars (IT Strategy & Innovation Director)

*This position can be located within 50 miles of an Anthem office

As the Lead Architect for Medicare Stars at Anthem you will be responsible for leading the technology strategy across all organizations that are enabling Stars business operations, provider engagement & member engagement to take Anthem’s Stars performance to the next level and distinguish Anthem as a leader in the Medicare industry. In this role you will be a technology thought leader that will enable the evolution of Stars at Anthem to be a data & insights driven business that is best in class and a leading innovator across the industry. This will include working across multiple technology implementation organizations to keep alignment between multiple teams executing to support the Stars strategy & working with the Medicare leadership, Stars business leaders, business unit leaders, and CIOs for execution scope prioritization and to manage a full strategic technology view specific for Stars across the Anthem enterprise landscape. In addition, this will include driving how Stars technology platforms integrate across the entire Anthem eco-system and defining a full strategic technology view specific for Stars across the multiple technology areas.


Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Align Anthem’s Medicare Stars strategies with our overarching Digital & IT strategies and advancing technology solutions to support business growth & opportunities.

  • Define & maintain the architecture vision for Medicare Stars and also leverage this vision to support other enterprise capabilities that are similar to Medicare Stars (Medicaid Stars as an example).

  • Collaborate across technology organizations to ensure delivery is aligned with architecture vision

  • Perform partner evaluation specific to enabling Stars business capabilities (M&A, build-buy activities).

  • Advancing innovative solutions that support business growth.

  • Technology partner for business ideation pipeline representing Digital & IT in solution ideation sessions.

  • Influence the delivery of new technology solutions to ensure speed to market of solutions and timely impact for influencing Stars outcomes


Skills needed to thrive in this role:

  • Requires bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and 10 plus years of experience in technology, product management, strategic planning, and/or consulting, or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Experience in the health care industry, including the ability to influence key stakeholders.

  • Experience in Medicare and preferably with Stars enablement at payer organizations.

  • Experience working with external vendors and understanding of portfolio delivery required.

  • Strong strategic thinking/planning, analytical, management and organizational skills required.
