Business Information Developer Consultant Senior

The preferred locations for this position are Georgia, Indiana, Virginia and Illinois

(but other locations may be considered)

The Business Information Developer Consultant Senior is viewed as an expert in the development and execution of data mining analyses and process automation. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertakes complex assignments requiring additional specialized technical knowledge.

  • Develops very complex and varied strategic report applications from a Data Warehouse.

  • Establishes and maintains advanced knowledge of data warehouse database design, data definitions, system capabilities, and data integrity issues.

  • Conducts training on use of applications developed and acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff.

  • Develops and supports very complex Data Warehouse-related applications for business areas requiring design and implementation of database tables.

    Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Proficient in working with large, multi-source datasets of healthcare billing claims and membership

  • Proficient in building and running complex data analytic solutions based on complex business requirements against healthcare data warehouse using SAS EG is required.

  • Proficient in developing analytic solutions or base queries using SAS, SQL and Hive.

  • Must have hands-on experience with Control-M scheduler.

  • Proficient in Excel including pivot tables, graphs, etc. required.

  • Proficient in identification of outliers, data issues and anomalies, conducting independent research, testing and issue resolution required.

  • Ability to mentor other developers within the team and sharing knowledge and best practices from coding and data perspective.

  • Strong desire to develop and implement continuous improvement opportunities of current data queries and processes.

  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication and problem-solving skills required.

  • Proven ability to collaborate in team tasks to produce complex analyses on a rigorous schedule.

  • Proven ability to communicate and present meaningful results with business audience.

  • Knowledge of Anthem data warehouse (Edward Hadoop, Facets, WGS, NASCO and other sources) preferred, not required.

  • Working experience with Agile methodology.

  • Working experience in building BI dashboards.


  • Requires a BS/BA degree

  • 8 or more years of experience or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Expert level PC, MS office tools, and database skills, as well as experience in standard Business Information tools and programming/query languages is required.

  • Expert level experience in SAS and MS SQL connecting to databases like Teradata, SQL Server and Oracle. Tools used will be Teradata SQL Assistant, SQL Server Management Studio and SAS Enterprise Guide (PROC SQL, SAS DATA Step Procedures, etc.) is required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary audiences and multiple levels within the organization.

  • This job is focused on higher level technical expertise, spending time thinking about designing process automation and data analytical solutions as compared to the Business Information Developer Consultant job.
